Travel Academy Camp for Travel Players aged 8-14 years of age
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 12:00pm
Week of July 16th – 20th  

The Travel Academy Camp is designed for the serious younger travel player. The camp runs from 9:00- 12:00pm daily. A player must currently be rostered on a travel team to attend.

Travel Academy Players are in the transition stages of soccer. The player’s cognitive ability and physical maturity have reached the point where they are capable of executing most of the skills essential to playing the game of soccer. Technical skill with the ball is the foundation of a strong player and this is the age that a serious player must develop and hone these skills. It is important that players are correctly instructed on proper technique and that poor habits are eliminated, before those habits become too ingrained. The goal is to execute proper technique under pressure and with speed.
It is also the time to speed up decision-making and reaction time within the game. Travel Academy players are taught small group tactics and the essentials of team play. They will learn the principles of attack and defense in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 situations. Soccer is a team sport, but a player must be confident in their individual abilities and knowledge of the game to be a successful team player.

Training area’s covered:

Individual Technical Skills: Fast Footwork, Passing, Shooting, Heading & Receiving under Pressure, Combination Plays, Creativity with the Ball.

Small group tactics and team play.

Principles of Attack: 1v1 Attack, Support, Off-Ball movement and support.

Principles of Defense: Pressure, Cover, Balance.

Reading the Field: With Vision and Anticipation.

Positional Play: Individual Tactical Responsibilities of positions played on the field.

In addition, players are taught the psychological elements of the game including match preparation, practice habits and specific game situations.

Recreational Player Development Camp for Players aged 7-14
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 12:00pm
Weeks of July 16th-20th and August 20th – 24th

The Recreational Camp is designed to prepare players who wish to play at higher levels of the game or who are interested in improving their game for the upcoming season.

At the youngest ages, we focus on developing the technical skills of soccer: dribbling, ball control, kicking, shooting and passing. With older players, we advance to receiving balls, 1v1 attack, tackling and heading.
Each skill is taught using a variety of methods, increasing the level of challenge as the player refines the skill. Eventually, the player is asked to perform the skill under match conditions. Older players are also taught soccer tactics and the basics of team play, including combination plays, ball possession, defending as a group, speed of play, and others. A fun fast paced program for Recreational players.
Cost $160 per player
Little Cardinal’s for players aged 5-6 years of age
Monday – Friday 10:00am -11:30am
Weeks of July 16th-20th and August 20th – 24th

This program provides fun, fast-paced soccer-related games and activities for the newer players of the game. It develops motor skills, cognitive abilities and peer relationships and introduces children to soccer between the ages of 5 and 6.

All children taking part in a Little Cardinal’s sessions will be put in highly imaginative situations and asked to make their own decisions.
Cost $95 per player
Travel Shooting and Finishing Clinic for players aged 8-15 years of age
Monday – Friday 9am-12pm
Week of August 20th – 24th

This Clinic is designed with advanced curriculums for competitive level players who are looking to enhance specific skills in their soccer repertoire.

The Shooting and Finishing Clinic is a unique program that focuses on one of the most exciting aspects of the game: creating chances and the art of finishing. This is not just for forwards; it is for any player on the field who wants to improve their attacking skills.
Small group sessions are set up to challenge individuals in repetitive game situations where attacking players need to excel: long distance shooting, combination play, 1v1’s, turning and shooting in the box, crossing and finishing, chipping and Lobbing, Volleys, Attacking heading, playing with your back to goal, and striker movement among many.
By integrating the Shooting and Finishing Clinic and Travel goalkeeping program and running them simultaneously, we are able to provide more game-realistic environments and competition for both programs.

Travel Goalkeeping Program for Travel Goalkeepers aged 8-15 years of age
Monday – Friday 9am-12pm
Week of August 20th – 24th

Goalkeeping is a unique position in the game of soccer and requires specialized training to develop the goalkeeping skills, self-confidence and toughness to be the team’s last line of defense and first point of attack. To be effective in the position, goalkeepers need to be well trained technically and tactically to integrate into the team’s defense. The goalkeeper is the leader and communicator. The design of the Travel Goalkeeping program will develop goalkeepers to be decision makers. The program is designed to be progressive based upon the age, ability and experience of the individual goalkeeper.

The Goalkeeping Program will cover the following training topics:

Stance, footwork, ball handling, Angles and positioning, Shot stopping: catching, diving, Ball distribution, 1 v 1 breakaways, Crossed balls, Strength-agility and quickness, Communication, Organizing the defense, Controlling the box, Principles of defense, Match play situations, Leadership and confidence, Keeping focus and Learning from mistakes.

SYA Travel Pre-season Team Camp
Monday – Thursday 9am – 11:30am or 5:00 – 7:30pm
August 6th – 9th and 13th – 16th

For complete travel teams SYA are offering a 2 and a half hour morning or evening 4 day Pre-season team camp. This camp is the week before Cardinal Cup and is the perfect way to tune up for the upcoming Fall Season working with one of SYA Soccer’s Full time technical staff members.

This program enables the players to work on skills, tactics and strategies that need further refining, as determined in consultation with the team coach. The training elements for your team may be designed to include, Technical training and ball possession, Team tactics and team building, Attack and defense, Set plays: free kicks, throw-ins, penalty kicks, corner kicks and much more. The coach that works with your team will consult with the team’s full time coach in designing a curriculum for the 4 days.
We try and arrange teams of similar age and abilities to train at the opposite end of each field, Not only does it bring variety to the sessions, it enables the teams to scrimmage each other and further refine the lessons being learned. Each team will have its own trainer.

Teams must sign up together and have a minimum of 9 players for u9 – u12 and 12 players for u13 – u18 teams to attend this camp.
